Paint a Traditional Tokushima Yusanbako Lunchbox
Ebuchi Kyoudaiten is a store in Tokushima City that specializes in woodworking, making items such as mirror stands, furniture, and other small items. Craftsmen who have mastered traditional woodworking techniques carefully create each item piece by piece to meet the needs of customers. We are offering a special opportunity for visitors to try their hand at painting a "yusanbako", a traditional craft unique to Tokushima. A yusanbako is a three-tiered wooden lunch box that was used by children for the Hina Festival (Doll Festival) and other special events until around the 1960s.They were made by parents who wished for their children to grow up and have many great memories of their childhood. They can be used for a variety of purposes, such as a lunch box or as a small item container, making it an important item to be passed down from parents to children. Through this plan, you can try making your own original yusanbako! ★ This plan allows participants to paint 1 yusanbako. ★ The finished piece can be brought home on the day of. It can also be mailed upon request (separate fee required). ★ Up to 5 people can join per reservation. ★ Those under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. 【Shikoku Pilgrimage Guided Tours】Visit Three Temples, One Shrine, and the Naruto German House (8 Hours)
Learn about various historical objects on the temple grounds of the first three temples along the Shikoku pilgrimage route - Temple 1, Ryōzenji, Temple 2, Gokurakuji, and Temple 3, Konsenji; one of the largest Shinto shrines in Tokushima; and the Naruto German House, a "museum" about the German POWs. It is said that if you can see your reflection in the water, you will live a long life. ◆“Benkei`s stone of strength”, which is in the garden in front of the temple office. It is believed that warrior-monk Benkei (1155-1189) lifted this stone during the 12th century when he came here on his way to fight in the Battle of Yashima in present-day Kagawa prefecture. These statues are located in a covered corridor between the main hall and the Daishi hall. Temple 5 Jizōji: It's recommended to go into the “500 Rakan” building up the stairs behind the temple. This two-day tour contains a myriad of unique experiences, such as visiting a portion of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage, staying at a temple and experiencing religious services, learning about Tokushima's indigo industry, and seeing Tokushima's famous Awa Odori dance. ◎On Day 1 you will walk a portion of the Shikoku Pilgrimage by foot. Together with a knowledgeable guide, you will walk from Temple No.1 Ryozenji to Temple No.4. Dainichiji. As such, "Iya Soba" has become a staple food of the area. At Tsuzuki Shoten, a local, elderly woman will teach you how to properly make Iya Soba.
