Learn about various historical objects on the temple grounds of the first three temples along the Shikoku pilgrimage route - Temple 1, Ryōzenji, Temple 2, Gokurakuji, and Temple 3, Konsenji. Places to Visit: ◆Temple 1, Ryōzenji ◆Temple 2, Gokurakuji ◆Temple 3, Konsenji Temple 1 Ryōzenji: If you are starting your journey here, perhaps you might be interested in buying some of the accouterments – such as sedge hat, wooden staff, pilgrimage book, white pilgrim coat etc. – that people get to show that are making this journey as a henro (Shikoku pilgrim). Enjoy the atmosphere, feel free to take photographs (except for the innermost part of the main hall where the altar is), look at the various buildings and statues, and perhaps take your pilgrimage book to the temple office to have it signed and stamped. Temple 2 Gokurakuji: As you walk along the path, you will most likely be impressed by the large garden on your left and various statues on your right. Dried Fish Making & Tasting!
Try making dried-fish using delicious fish from Naruto ! For this activity we use mackerel and horse mackerel, which are comparatively easy to handle. These fresh fish are carefully selected from those raised in the whirlpools of the Naruto Strait. This activity is okay even for children who have never touched raw fish before! Our staff will carefully explain how to prepare the fish and be there to support you during the entire process. At Toyota Shoten, we take full advantage of our great location on the Oge Kainan Dori and spare no time or effort in making dried-fish by hand each day, utilizing our special techniques. Plenty of exposure to the sun and salty sea breeze of Naruto erases the fishy smell and aids in the formation of the umami ingredients glutamic acid and amino acid, resulting in a top-quality taste. While waiting for the fish to dry in the sun, enjoy tasting some of Toyota Shoten's prized dried-fish. The taste of dried-fish while gazing out at the Naruto Sea from the terrace and listening to the sounds of waves, is truly amazing. Take your hand-made dried fish home with you as a souvenir. This activity will certainly serve as an irreplaceable travel memory! [Age Restrictions] ・Those 3 & Older [Required Time] ・The required will depend on which part of the process you are interested in ending the activity at. *Filleting the Fish: Approximately 1 Hour *Filleting ~ Soaking in Salt Water and Hanging in Sun: Approximately 2 Hours (The fish needs to soak for approximately 1 hour.) *~Finished Drying in the Sun: 5 Hours (Drying in the sun takes approximately 3 hours.) Please choose a plan based on your schedule. *Please note that even if you end the activity in the middle of the process, the price will remain the same. Thank you for your understanding. *Please note that, while our staff are not fluent in English, we will do our best to accommodate guests from overseas.
