Glare Surf Shop is a surfing shop located in Tokushima City that is close to Komatsu Beach. In addition to selling and repairing surfboards and other surfing-related goods, our shop offers a surfing school. We conduct about 500 lessons each year, and the majority of participants are able to take off and enjoy surfing on the first day! Instructor Fukuda, Tokushima's first JPSA (Japan Pro Surfing Association) certified pro longboarder, gives careful lessons that, more than anything, are fun. Paint a Traditional Tokushima Yusanbako Lunchbox
Ebuchi Kyoudaiten is a store in Tokushima City that specializes in woodworking, making items such as mirror stands, furniture, and other small items. Craftsmen who have mastered traditional woodworking techniques carefully create each item piece by piece to meet the needs of customers. We are offering a special opportunity for visitors to try their hand at painting a "yusanbako", a traditional craft unique to Tokushima. A yusanbako is a three-tiered wooden lunch box that was used by children for the Hina Festival (Doll Festival) and other special events until around the 1960s.They were made by parents who wished for their children to grow up and have many great memories of their childhood. They can be used for a variety of purposes, such as a lunch box or as a small item container, making it an important item to be passed down from parents to children. Through this plan, you can try making your own original yusanbako! ★ This plan allows participants to paint 1 yusanbako. ★ The finished piece can be brought home on the day of. 【Shikoku Pilgrimage Guided Tours】Temples 1, 2, and 3
Learn about various historical objects on the temple grounds of the first three temples along the Shikoku pilgrimage route - Temple 1, Ryōzenji, Temple 2, Gokurakuji, and Temple 3, Konsenji. Places to Visit: ◆Temple 1, Ryōzenji ◆Temple 2, Gokurakuji ◆Temple 3, Konsenji Temple 1 Ryōzenji: If you are starting your journey here, perhaps you might be interested in buying some of the accouterments – such as sedge hat, wooden staff, pilgrimage book, white pilgrim coat etc. – that people get to show that are making this journey as a henro (Shikoku pilgrim). Enjoy the atmosphere, feel free to take photographs (except for the innermost part of the main hall where the altar is), look at the various buildings and statues, and perhaps take your pilgrimage book to the temple office to have it signed and stamped. Temple 2 Gokurakuji: As you walk along the path, you will most likely be impressed by the large garden on your left and various statues on your right. After you turn left and walk a little bit further, you will see a huge tree in front of you. It is called “the cedar of long life” (chōmei sugi) and is believed to have been planted by the well-known 8th century Buddhist priest Kūkai/Kōbō Daishi, who founded many of the temples along the Shikoku Pilgrimage route. Next, go up a flight of steep stone stairs to see the main hall and Daishi hall, the latter which has a statue of Kūkai/Kōbō Daishi enshrined inside. In front of the Daishi hall are many amulets and wooden tablets related to the safe birth of a child. In fact, the large statue of Kōbō Daishi was given to the temple by a woman during the Meiji period (1868-1912) when she had a safe childbirth after visiting this temple. Temple 3 Konsenji: Recommended Points: ◆A well beside the Daishi hall, which is said to have been dug by Kōbō Daishi for the benefit of the local people when he visited here in the 9th century. It is said that if you can see your reflection in the water, you will live a long life. ◆“Benkei`s stone of strength”, which is in the garden in front of the temple office. It is believed that warrior-monk Benkei (1155-1189) lifted this stone during the 12th century when he came here on his way to fight in the Battle of Yashima in present-day Kagawa prefecture. We offer a variety of outdoor sports, such as river rafting, rock climbing, caving, and trekking in southern Tokushima, a place which offers beautiful mountains, rivers, and seas. We aim to support participants so that they can enjoy the challenges and discoveries that nature has to offer! 【About the Course】 Ducky River Rafting (Beginner's A Course): A course for beginners that is approximately 5 km long. This course is held in on the Naka River of Naka Town, a first-class river known for its many rapids. A "ducky" is a rubber, kayak-like boat that is filled with air. It gets its name from the fact that it looks similar to a duck floating on the surface of the water. Compared to kayaks made of hard poly-materials, the ducky is mroe stable, easy to ride, and easier to recover from when falling into the water. Compared to packrafts, it is less susceptible to wind resistance ad thus able to move quickly, giving a great feeling of adventure. River rafting consists of a short ride from upstream to downstream. There are parts along the river that are leisurly, and others parts that are filled with rapids, providing thrills and a sense of freedom when you are able to overcome them!
