~To Those Considering a Trip to Kamikatsu ~
Kamikatsu is a small town with a population of less than 1,500. In 2003, it became the first municipality in Japan to make a "Zero Waste Declaration", aiming to become a garbage-free town. For responsible travelers who want to experience Kamikatsu as it really is and learn and enjoy through travel, we offer a variety of programs.

~Story~
Mt. Yamainudake was named after the shape of the rocks at the top of the mountain, which look like a wolf (or wild dog) with its mouth agape (in Japanese, “yama inu” means wild dog). The mountain is home to one of the largest peat moss forests in Japan, and with its groups of giant rocks, it has a very mystical atmosphere. It was once a training area for the ascetic practice of Shugendo, and one of the highlights of this tour are the stone Buddha statues dotted across the mossy valley that are part of a mini-Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage. There are also ruins of settlements along the mountain trails, and many beautiful terraced rice paddies can be seen up to the trailhead. This mysterious area allows visitors to come into coexistence with nature and the people of Kamikatsu. After finishing your hike, enjoy a meal made with locally produced ingredients and an onsen bath at the Tsukigatani Onsen.
