Paint a Traditional Tokushima Yusanbako Lunchbox

Ebuchi Kyoudaiten is a store in Tokushima City that specializes in woodworking, making items such as mirror stands, furniture, and other small items. Craftsmen who have mastered traditional woodworking techniques carefully create each item piece by piece to meet the needs of customers. We are offering a special opportunity for visitors to try their hand at painting a "yusanbako", a traditional craft unique to Tokushima.

A yusanbako is a three-tiered wooden lunch box that was used by children for the Hina Festival (Doll Festival) and other special events until around the 1960s.They were made by parents who wished for their children to grow up and have many great memories of their childhood. They can be used for a variety of purposes, such as a lunch box or as a small item container, making it an important item to be passed down from parents to children. Through this plan, you can try making your own original yusanbako!

★ This plan allows participants to paint 1 yusanbako.
★ The finished piece can be brought home on the day of. It can also be mailed upon request (separate fee required).
★ Up to 5 people can join per reservation.
★ Those under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Those under 13 need the permission of a parent/guardian to participate.
