The town of Kamiita is the number one producer of "sukumo", a raw material needed for indigo dye, in Japan. At the Waza no Yakata, visitors can try indigo dyeing via a natural lye fermentation method.
The size of the bandana is 55 cm x 55 cm.
Rubber bands or clothespins are used to apply various patterns to the plain bandana. When you have finished applying the pattern, you are ready to dye with indigo. ♪ Through this activity, please experience the beauty of colors and the joy of indigo dyeing.
